Rockingham County Jail Ministries
This is who we are.

We are a 501(c)(3) charitable organization, founded on 12/04/2023.

The purpose of our organization is to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to those who are incarcerated or detained in jails or detention centers in the city of Harrisonburg or Rockingham County, VA, or who have been recently released. We do this by financially supporting chaplaincies and other Christian ministries that minister directly to the spiritual and practical needs of this population. We desire to see these men and women find new life in Christ, one of purpose, meaning and contribution.

Our Board of Directors
Marvin Weaver — Founder and Chairman of the Board, Treasurer
Marvin has been involved in Rockingham jail ministries for about 6 years. During these past 2 years, it became obvious to him that there was a lack of funding for the people and ministries that are doing hands-on ministry to these populations. His goal is to make sure the funds are there, releasing the missionaries to focus on what God has called them to and freeing them from the worry of raising support. He attends Dayton Mennonite church and helps put on a church service at the jail.
Buff Showalter — Vice Chair
Buff has a passion for bringing the gospel to those incarcerated. He attends Dayton Mennonite Church and serves as an elder. He has also served as the church coordinator for jail services for the last 25 years.
Kent Weaver — Secretary
Kent is uniquely gifted in raising funds for charitable organizations. He does this through auctioneering and organizing events. He has a passion to make sure the ministries RCJM supports are fully funded so they can relax and do their work of ministry. Kent attends Dayton Mennonite Church.
